Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian fast bowler, is likely to be rested for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, starting on November 30. It is understood that the non-selection of Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian squad
could be the case due to managing his workload in the best possible way in the lead up to the T20I commitments while building up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka in February-March of next year.
Notably, Jasprit Bumrah was not a part of the recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia down under last month, which India lost 2-1 in his absence. The 31-year-old went on to play in the five-match T20I series versus the Aussies shortly after, in which the Indian cricket team managed to attain 2-1 result after two of the matches were washed out due to rain and wet outfield.Jasprit Bumrah is currently playing in Test match versus South Africa in Kolkata
In just a week after competing in Australia, Jasprit Bumrah is currently playing for the Men in Blue in the first Test of the two-match series against South Africa at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After losing the toss and asked to bowl first, Jasprit Bumrah bowled an excellent spell in the first session on day one, registering figures of 2/9 in seven overs out of which four were maiden.
The two wickets fell on his bowling were of South Africa openers Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton, who had made a sparkling start for the visitors at the top of the order, putting together 57-run stand in just 11 overs. As of this writing, at lunch on day one, the Proteas have managed to get up to 105/3 in 27 overs with Wiaan Mulder (22* off 43) and Tony de Zorzi (15* off 38) still at the crease.
