Trent Alexander-Arnold, who became Xabi Alonso’s first major signing coming into Real Madrid as new manager in the 2025-26 season, has had a good start at the Los Blancos. The former Liverpool defender
made a total of five appearances for Real Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup in which he provided two assists for the team before impressive display in the La Liga at the start of the new season. However, the new right-back is expected to be sidelined from the team for up to four-six weeks.
Real Madrid took on Olympique Marseille in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) opening fixture which was full of drama and excitement. The 26-year-old Trent Alexander-Arnold was ready to make his Champions league debut for the 15-time Champions league winners. He was part of the starting 11 inside a packed Santiago Bernabeu. However, his CL debut did not last long as he suffered a massive hamstring injury just five minutes into the match. The English international had to be removed from the pitch as he could not continue the match with the left leg injury.

The Galacticos went on to win the match 2-1 despite Carvajal being sent off in the 73rd minute, all thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s composure from the penalty spot twice. Real Madrid have stated that the medical tests carried out confirmed Arnold suffering a “muscle injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg”. They further added that the updates about his injury will follow soon.
The Real Madrid defender, who missed out on the recent international games for England, is likely to stay absent for the upcoming friendly against Wales and the World Cup qualifying match against Latvia. Arnold’s return to Anfield for the UCL match against Liverpool on November 4 also remains doubtful considering the severity of the injury.
