Cameron Green, the Australian all-rounder, had undergone back surgery last year, which led to him missing a lot of cricket in 2024 and 2025, including the Australian summer, the ICC Champions Trophy, and the Indian
Premier League (IPL), among others. The 26-year-old made his return to international cricket this June during the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s in London against South Africa, which they ended up losing.
Following that, Cameron Green made the trip to the Caribbean to play against West Indies in the three-match Test series for the Frank Worrell Trophy. On pitches which provided a lot of assistance to the pacers, Green, who was promoted to number three in the batting order, played quite well with the bat, scoring 184 runs in six innings at an average of 30.67, to become one of the key players in Australia’s 3-0 series triumph.
In his recent interview, Cameron Green spoke about the implication of the Caribbean tour on the upcoming Ashes series at home against England later this year. He was quoted as saying, as per Cricbuzz, “I don't think we'll be playing on many wickets quite like that (in The Ashes), so I don't think there's too many takeaways. It was such a tough wicket, especially for the batters, to try and get out of the series unscathed was a good effort.”

After talking about the implications of coming out of the Test series in the Caribbean “unscathed”, Cameron Green is looking forward to building some momentum towards the Ashes series by playing for Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield at the start of the upcoming season. “In the past, it's worked really well when I've focused on Shield cricket. That potentially might be the way to go, especially with (me) working my way back to bowling, to potentially get a few more overs over a few more days,” he remarked.
Also, the Australian all-rounder seemed unsure about when he will finally start to bowl once again competitively, but he feels in a really good spot currently.
