The exciting five-match Test series between England and India for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy culminated in a draw on Monday, August 4. With the final Test match coming down to the wire with England needing
just 35 runs whereas India needed four wickets, the Shubman Gill-led side held their nerves to pull off a thrilling edge of a seat win and end the series in a stalemate.
On the fifth day of the Oval Test, while England resumed their innings from 339/6 with Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton in the middle, Mohammed Siraj began with picking Jamie Smith’s wicket. Thereafter, he picked two more whereas Prasidh Krishna got Josh Tongue to restrict the Three Lions at 367. While the victory not only got raw emotions on the field, but even fans, believers and former cricketers and experts of the game saw the moment unfold with joy.

Seeing the historic win, social media was flooded with former cricketers and members of the cricketing community hailing India’s efforts in the Test series. Former BCCI Secretary and the current ICC Chairman took to X to accolade Indian cricket team’s efforts, writing, “What the world witnessed today was pure Test cricket magic. The Oval delivered one of the most gripping contests in the history of the sport. Salute to both @BCCI (India) and @englandcricket for this masterpiece.”
