Delhi Capitals’ star batter Nitish Rana got dismissed in a very bizarre way during the clash against Chennai Super Kings. Notably, for the 48th league-stage clash of the IPL 2026, the five-time champions
visited Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 5. Both teams walked into the game on the back of a win in their respective previous clashes, and were aiming to extend their winning streak. However, the visitors were in a different mood altogether and they didn’t show any mercy when it came to dismantling the DC batting lineup.
Delhi batters were quick to depart, and finished with Sameer Rizvi as their highest scorer at 40* off 24 deliveries. However, earlier during the innings, Nitish Rana fell at 15 runs in one of the most bizarre ways. Rana, who got off to a decent start, fell prey to Noor Ahmad in the 10th over in one of the most controversial ways.

Nitish Rana’s dismissal sparks controversy
On the third ball of the 10th over, Rana looked to sweep Noor for a maximum but found the fielder at the boundary. The batter, disappointedly, walked back to the pavilion at just 15 runs in 13 balls. However, a clip of his dismissal started doing rounds on social media highlighting that the bails had got dislodged before Rana hit the four. However, none of the on-field officials paid attention to the matter.
But as things reached social media, fans started slamming officials for their negligence and expressed disappointment over the same. It is to be noted that it was not a hit-wicket and didn’t appear as if Samson dislodged the bails. In short, there is no clear explanation as to how the bails got removed. One possible reason could be strong winds since it rained heavily in the capital city before the start of the game.
Though, the officials are yet to address the matter and it should be seen how the authorities go ahead with it.
