AS Roma have reportedly made an offer to Manchester United to buy winger Jadon Sancho, who is expected to bid goodbye to Old Trafford this summer. The bid from the Serie A club is £20 million, and they
are also open to loan with buy clause.. However, the offer itself highlights that there is interest in the 25-year-old, who has been instructed to secure a new club before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
Earlier, the English footballer returned to Old Trafford after Chelsea opted to pay £5 million to escape their £25 million purchase obligation. The winger is anticipated to depart United this summer, though his hefty wages remain a major obstacle for potential suitors. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that AS Roma are the latest club reaching out to the player on loan for the 2025-26 season. The three other clubs are Dortmund, Juventus and Besiktas.
Jadon Sancho puts forward his terms to leave Manchester United
Jadon Sancho has one year left on his contract, and Manchester United have the option to extend it for an additional season. His £250,000-a-week wages remain a significant hurdle, particularly as United favour a permanent sale. However, journalist Graeme Bailey reports that the winger intends to depart only “on his terms” and is willing to stay put, collecting his substantial salary even if he doesn’t play.
While speaking to United in Focus, Bailey said, "We saw him reject a wage drop to join Chelsea and a Napoli chance passed him by for similar reasons. The message we are getting is that Sancho has made it clear to United that he is prepared to sit and not play until January or beyond unless he gets the deal he wants."
Meanwhile, United are keen to let go of Sancho, but as September approaches, they have yet to consider the loan move. Sancho, who was brought to United by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has been linked with a move to Besiktas, where the Norwegian manager has been in charge since January.
