His innings was studded with four boundaries (one four and three maximums).
Indiaeventually posted a massive total of 202/5 in their 20 overs, riding on the sensational batting efforts from Abhishek, Tilak Varma (49* off 34), and Samson. Netizens loved Samson’s knock as social media was filled with commendable posts of the India wicket-keeper batter. Taking to X, a user named Rajiv wrote, “Really loved this knock Sanju Samson. Batted thrice in this tournament, won man of the match in 1 & scored a great knock tonight again. Loved every bit of this knock & most positive point of this inning was his sixes against Hasaranga. Scored 3 100s as opener then they brought Gill to fit into XI so Sanju now doing well in middle order.”
Below are some of the fan reactions on X after India's splendid batting performance with Sanju Samson's brilliance:
Sri Lanka lose Kusal Mendis while chasing the mammoth target
Pursuing the colossal target, Sri Lanka lost wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis, who got dismissed on a duck. Hardik Pandya delivered the breakthrough to India as the pacer got him caught at the hands of Shubman Gill, who was deployed at the slips. Sri Lanka are already out of the final’s race and they are playing for pride.
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya is spearheading India’s fast-bowling attack. Pandya is supported by Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, who are playing their second match in the competition.
