India’s young batting sensation Ayush Mhatre met the legendary batter and former skipper Virat Kohli at the BCCI CoE. The captain of India’s U19 cricket team, Mhatre was last seen in action in the IPL
2026 season for the Chennai Super Kings. However, his campaign was cut short due to a left hamstring injury in the clash against the SunRisers Hyderabad in April. Furthermore, a wrist injury also added to his woes and ruled him out for the rest of the tournament.
In a recent development, Mhatre, who is also the sixth captain to win the ICC Under-19 World Cup title, shared a picture with Kohli at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Mhatre posed with the former Indian captain Virat Kohli and captioned it, “an unforgettable conversation with a legend.” Notably, Kohli recently cleared his fitness test at the CoE, and is set to return to action for the England tour.
Ayush Mhatre to be back in action on U-19 Australia Tour
The 18-year-old Mhatre will be back in action during India U-19’s multi-format tour of Australia starting on September 21. The Indian boys are set to play three ODIs and two four-day games against the Aussie U-19 team. Notably, Mhatre emerged as one of the standout performers in England where he finished as the leading run-scorer in the Youth Tests and scored 340 runs from four innings, including two hundreds and one fifty.
On the other hand, Vihaan Malhotra will shoulder the responsibility of vice captaincy owing to his impressive performances in both the formats in England. On the other hand, Virat Kohli, who recently launched his shoe brand, One8 is rumoured to collaborate with internet sensation and livestreamer IShowSpeed. Though, there are no official confirmations from both the sides.
