With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 retention deadline set for November 15, franchises have started to confirm the trade moves if any have unfolded. In the biggest trade talk which had been going
on for days now, Rajasthan Royals (RR) completed a successful swap deal involving Sanju Samson’s departure to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
Apart from this, the inaugural title winners have also completed a trade of Nitish Rana for Donovan Ferreira with Delhi Capitals (DC). In another big move in the IPL 2026 trade window, star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has completed a move to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Notably, the out-of-favor Indian pacer was brought by SRH in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 10 Crore.

However, the 35-year-old could not have a fruitful season with the Orange Army in IPL 2025, picking just six wickets in nine IPL matches while conceding at an economy of 11.23. Furthermore, Shami also registered the most expensive bowling figures by an Indian bowler in IPL history in the last edition, leaking 75 runs from his four overs.
The LSG owner, who is also the Chairman of the RPSG Group, Sanjiv Goenka also took to X to confirm the move of Shami and welcome him into the camp. “Musuraiye, aap Lucknow mein hain…… welcome to the Super Giants family, @MdShami11”, he wrote. Notably, Shami joins LSG at his existing fee of INR 10 Crore, becoming their second pick after they traded Shardul Thakur to MI for Arjun Tendulkar.
The senior pacer brings a wealth of experience, having played 119 IPL matches across five franchises since making his debut in 2013. Before joining SRH, Shami was an integral part of the Gujarat Titans setup and clinched the Purple Cap in 2023 with 28 wickets in 17 matches. Although he missed the 2024 season due to injury, he enjoyed an equally impactful 2023 campaign, contributing 20 wickets to GT’s title triumph.
