Devdutt Padikkal continued his blistering form in the 50 over format scoring 91 for Karnataka against Rajasthan on Tuesday in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. This was his fifth 50+ score of the season in just
six inning. In this tournament he has already crossed 600 runs in six innings this season. This achievement makes him the first batter in the history of the Vijay Hazare Trophy to accumulate as many runs in a season thrice in their career. Previously he had scored 609 runs in 11 innings in the 2019/20 season. Later he scored 737 runs in eight innings in the 2020/21 season.
The stylish Karnataka left hander started his Vijay Hazare 2025-26 campaign with a 147-run knock against Jharkhand. He continued his terrific form to the next game scoring 124 against Kerala. His rare failure came in the third match where he was dismissed for 22 runs against Tamil Nadu. In the fourth match, Devdutt Padikkal smashed 113 against Puducherry, and his last game saw him score108 against Tripura. This insane run of form in List A cricket has made him the talking point as he is knocking down the doors for selection to the international side.
He missed his century by just nine runs and was extremely disappointed. Devdutt Paddikal now has 13 tons and as many fifties across 38 innings in List A cricket which is a remarkable achievement.
The southpaw from Karnataka now has more than 2600 runs, at an average of more than 83 across 38 innings. This is the highest average by any batter who has scored at least 2000 runs in the format.
In today’s match against Rajasthan, Devdutt Padikkal played another key role, scoring 91 off 82 balls with 12 fours and two sixes. He was aggressive and set up Karnataka’s innings with 184 run opening partnership with captain Mayank Agarwal who himself scored a century.
