The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, August 19 announced India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, set to be played in India and Sri Lanka. The 2025 Women’s World Cup will
be played from September 30 to November 2 across five venues - four in India and one in Sri Lanka.
However, the tournament is still over a month away from start, the Indian Women’s team is set to undergo a week-long conditioning camp starting Monday, August 25 in Visakhapatnam. If reports are to be believed, this move comes in order to acclimatize with the venue conditions as well as come up with a strategy.
India Women to play two intra-squad matches in week-long camp in Vizag
Although, the training sessions were initially planned to be held in Bengaluru, but due to Karnataka State Cricket Association’s inability to secure police clearance, the camp was shifted to Vizag. Furthermore, several reports have claimed that the team will play two intra-squad matches, while focusing on skill-based training, strategy building and adapting to the playing conditions.
Moreover, after the conclusion of the camp, India will play Australia in a three-match ODI series, starting from September 16 in New Chandigarh. Following that, the Women in Blue will return to Bengaluru for the two warm-up fixtures ahead of the Cricket World Cup, where they will kickstart their campaign against Sri Lanka on September 30 in Guwahati.
