In the match against Jordan, Messi came on as a substitute in the 60th minute and made an immediate impact. Just 20 minutes later, he found the back of the net with a beautifully executed free kick in the 80th minute, marking his sixth goal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and extending his record-breaking streak to seven straight matches. This goal also marked his 72nd career goal from free kicks, including 12 for Argentina.
