World No. 2 ranked Carlos Alcaraz of Spain edged past his rival and top seed Jannik Sinner to lift the US Open 2025 men’s singles title. The Spaniard, who entered the final after beating 24-time Grand
Slam champion and legend Novak Djokovic in three straight sets at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at Flushing Meadows, continued his dominance as he tamed the top ranked’s chances of lifting his third Grand Slam title.
The 22-year-old went past his arch-nemesis in four sets, winning the entire championship by dropping only one set. He triumphed over Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in two hours and 42 minutes, registering several feats with his victory. Aged 22 years and 125 days, Alcaraz has become the second youngest man to win six Grand Slams. He ranks only behind Borg, who racked up six Slams at the age of 22 years and 19 days.

Not only this, the Spaniard has also become the youngest player to win multiple titles at three different Grand Slam surfaces, overtaking Mats Wilander, who did this at the age of 24 years and six days. The Spanish international ranks only behind legendary compatriot Rafael Nadal in being the youngest men to collect five major titles in a calendar year.
With a win, Carlos Alcaraz will mark his return at the top spot for the first time since September 2023. His win at the Flushing Meadows also ended Sinner’s impressive 27-match winning streak on hard court Grand Slams and has now won seven of the past eight meetings against the Italian. Speaking after his sixth Grand Slam victory, Alcaraz said, “It’s a great feeling. I’m working really hard to lift this trophy. It’s just my second one but it’s still a dream come true.”
