Gill & Surya's back-to-back failures anger fans

• SA set India 214; De Kock's 90 led the charge in the second T20I match.

It was yet another bad day In the office for Indian captain Suryakumar Kumar and Vice captain Shubman Gill. In the second match of the T20I series, India were set a target of 214 by South Africa. During

the chase, Shubman Gill was dismissed for a duck off the bowling of Lungi Ngidi in the first over. Soon after his dismissal , social media X erupted with fans pouring out a lot of memes and expressed their frustration over the performance of Shubman Gill.

While Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav who averages less than 18 in 2025 in this format and strikes at less than 125 was found wanting once again. Suryakumar was dismissed for 5 runs off the bowling of Marco Jansen. Quinton de kock completed the catch and although the on field umpire did not give it out. But South Africa reviews the decision and ultra edge showed there was a deflection of the bat. It was yet another failure for Suryakumar Yadav and fans on X were not too pleased with the Indian captain’s performance. He was dismissed for 12 in the opening T20i and once again could not deliver for the team.

India are leading the series 1-0 but at this point they are in trouble after losing three quick wickets and it looks difficult to comeback into the game from here. Both Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill have been unable to perform well in the shorter format in 2025 and with the WT20 scheduled in February next year, the pressure will keep mounting on them every match until they perform. South Africa were put into bat in the second match and on the back of an excellent 90 by Quinton de kock they posted a target of 214. The 5 match T20I series between these two teams will provide good preparation for both sides.
