Casemiro , the Brazilian midfielder, 33, decided to stay at Manchester United, to give himself the best possible chance to play for the national team in the FIFA World Cup 2026. As reported by GOAL, it is
understood that Casemiro is “very happy” to be a part of Manchester United under Ruben Amorim’s management, for whom he has scored 17 goals in 128 appearances since joining them in the summer of 2022.
Notably, during his international career for Brazil, which began way back in 2011, Casemiro has made 77 appearances, with seven goals to his name. Currently, under new manager Carlo Ancelotti of Selecao, he is looked upon as a “trusted man”, and with that, it is important for him to deliver consistent results in club football for Manchester United in the ongoing 2025-26 season, to be a part of the World Cup squad next year.
Brazil have qualified for FIFA World Cup 2026 alongside Argentina and Ecuador from South America
Brazil are the five-time World Cup champions, but their last triumph in the highly prestigious FIFA event came way back in 2002, and with that, it will be vital for Carlo Ancelotti to pick a quality squad for the tournament next year. The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be played in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, and the Brazilian national team has already qualified for the tournament alongside Argentina and Ecuador from the South America continent thus far.
For Casemiro, there is an option to join Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League this summer, to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo, especially with his current contract at Manchester United set to expire next summer, but he has reportedly decided against it. Regardless, it will be quite interesting to see how the next few months pan out for the Brazilian at Manchester United and if he will be able to make the national squad for the World Cup next year.
