Cricket Ground in Melbourne on Friday, October 31. On the other hand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is sweating on Shreyas Iyer’s injury, which the ODI vice-captain sustained in India’s nine-wicket win in Sydney in the third ODI.
While attempting a running catch to dismiss Alex Carey in the Australia innings, Shreyas Iyer landed awkwardly on the field and in the process, injured his rib cage. After complaining of excruciating pain, the Indian batter was taken off the field but the internal injury further landed him in the hospital as he was confirmed to have sustained “ a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding ”.

On Saturday, November 1, the BCCI further shared a positive update around Iyer, while confirming that he is now out of the hospital and is recovering well. “ He is now stable and recovering well. The BCCI Medical Team, along with specialists in Sydney and India, are pleased with his recovery, and he has been discharged from the hospital today ,” the statement from the BCCI read.
The Indian cricket board further extended gratitude to doctors for prompt treatment, writing, “ The BCCI extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr Kouroush Haghigi and his team in Sydney, along with Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala in India, for ensuring Shreyas received the best treatment for his injury. ” As per the latest update, Shreyas will continue to stay in Sydney for follow-up consultations and will return to India once he is deemed fit to fly.
