In a shocking turn of events, veteran player Yuvraj Singh has made a statement, where he wants to apologise to the World Cup winning captains, MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev. On a podcast teaser, released by Sportstak,
the all-rounder was seen saying these words.
Yuvraj Singh’s dad, Yograj Singh is often seen making controversial remarks around popular players, like Dhoni and Kapil Dev. In September 2024, he declared he would never forgive Dhoni, accusing him of "destroying" Yuvraj’s life by cutting his career short by four to five years. He claimed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost IPL 2024 because of Dhoni’s "bad deeds" and alleged that Dhoni was "jealous" of Yuvraj.
Yograj has often belittled Kapil's achievements by comparing them to Yuvraj’s. He once stated, "Today, Yuvraj Singh has 13 trophies, and you [Kapil] have only one, the World Cup. End of discussion". In September 2025, Yograj dismissively asked "Who is Kapil Dev?" during an interview, claiming he didn't know him because Kapil "doesn't know me". In 2025, Yograj reignited old controversies by questioning why the match-fixing investigation involving Kapil Dev from the late 1990s was "shut down". He alleged the files were closed to protect the heads of various "legends" from rolling. 
Yuvraj tells his dad, it's not okay
In the podcast teaser,Yuvraj revealed he has spoken to his father about the impact of his interviews, telling him, "Dad, it's not okay".
While Yograj Singh often blames Dhoni for “ruining” his son’s career, Yuvraj has credited Dhoni for providing "clarity" during his final comeback in 2017, where Dhoni personally informed him that the team management was looking toward the future, helping Yuvraj make peace with his decision to retire in 2019.

Despite the family drama, Yuvraj has maintained a cordial relationship with the 1983 World Cup-winning captain. In the past, Yuvraj has been seen meeting Kapil Dev socially and has previously told him, "Paaji, I am sorry" regarding his father's behaviour.
The apology is seen as Yuvraj's attempt to distance himself from his father's "outrageous" outbursts and maintain the dignity of his relationships within the cricketing fraternity.
