On Monday, November 10, India’s national capital was panicked in the evening hours after a blast occurred near Delhi’s Red Fort. The incident took place sometime between 6-7 pm (IST), with several vehicles
catching first outside the Lal Quila metro station following a blast. At least eight were declared dead whereas several left injured and were referred to the LNJP Hospital.
While the incident has created a situation of panic across the country, several members of the Indian sports fraternity have come out to speak of it and express their condolences to the victims. Among many is the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, who took to X and wrote, “Saddened by the loss of lives due to the blast in Delhi. Praying for strength to the families of deceased and for the speedy recovery of injured.”
Former India cricketer, Mohammed Azharuddin also wrote, “Heartbroken to hear about the devastating car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. My thoughts are with the victims and their families in this moment of grief, and I pray for strength and healing for those injured.”

A few others, including Pragyan Ojha, Anil Kumble, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, BCCI President Mithun Manhas, and other also took to social media to express their grief on the tragic accident and extended their prayers.
Apart from them, a few wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia also opened up after the tragic incident. “Saddened by the death of innocent people in the car blast near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi today. It is a very heart-wrenching and devastating incident. In this period of grief, I stand by the families of the victims of this incident and express my deep condolences. I pray for the early recovery of the injured. I also appeal to the government to ensure the conduct of an immediate, transparent, and impartial inquiry into the incident," wrote Punia.
