Virat Kohli, the former India captain, looked in great spirits on Friday, October 17, during the latest practice session of the national team ahead of their three-match ODI series against Australia down
under. The 36-year-old is all set to play his first match for India since March, the first ODI of the three-match series at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday, the venue where the aforementioned practice session took place earlier this afternoon.
Notably, in his previous appearance for India, which happened on March 9, Virat Kohli was a part of the team that defeated New Zealand by three wickets in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With that, the veteran became a two-time Champions Trophy winner in his illustrious career during which he has already won the coveted ICC Cricket World Cup at home in 2011 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after defeating Sri Lanka in the final.

The video of India’s latest practice session, shared by Star Sports on their official X account, had Virat Kohli bringing his intense energy to the playing group like only he can. He was seen making all kinds of silly gestures while talking and giggling away in front of his teammates Arshdeep Singh, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, captain Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel among others, who were also spotted playing along with him on camera.
On his return to action in Indian colours, Virat Kohli will be looking to make an instant impact against a very impressive looking Australian attack, which is expected to test him, especially early in the innings.
