On October 25, 1987, India pacer Umesh Yadavwas born to Tilak Yadav and Kishori Devi in Nagpur. During his college days, he strove to become a part of his institute’s cricket team but didn’t get a chance
as he didn't play for any club. In 2007, he joined Vidarbha Gymkhana and played Guzder League 'A' Division cricket tournament organised by Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA). In November 2008, he broke into domestic cricket with his First-Class appearance for Vidarbha against Madhya Pradesh in Indore. In February 2009, he also made his List A debut for Vidarbha against Rajasthan. In October 2009, he also made his T20 debut for Vidarbha against Madhya Pradesh.
In May 2010, he made his international debut for Indiaagainst Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. In the series, he played three matches but got only one wicket. Umesh became a part of India’s Test team in November 2011 and also toured with the side to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2011-12. He bagged 14 wickets in six innings of four matches of the series.Umesh’s notable performance came in the World Cup 2015 held in Australia and New Zealand.
Umesh Yadav’s performances in IPL career
Umesh’s IPL career started in 2009 with Delhi Capitals (DC). Serving Capitals for four years from 2009 to 2013, he took 47 wickets in 51 matches at an economy of 7.93. The pacer was also a part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which won the 2014 season under Gautam Gambhir. In the title win, Umesh chipped in with 11 wickets in 12 outings at an economy of 8.15.
He was also a vital member of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) from 2018 to 2020. He grabbed 28 wickets in 27 matches at an economy of 8.89 before making his way to Gujarat Titans (GT). Discussing his overall IPL numbers, the speedster clinched 119 wickets in 121 matches at an economy of 8.46.
