After India’s 2-2 draw in the five-match Test series against England in the newly minted Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, the next major assignment for the Indian cricket team is the Men’s Asia Cup, set to be
played in the UAE from September 9 to 28. The Men in Blue will enter as the defending champions after getting their hands on record eighth title triumph.
As they will take the field for their opening match on September 10, they will see the return of some of the star players, including T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, among others. While the team will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, as confirmed by several sources close to the development, Shubman Gill is in contention to become the vice-captain.

While the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after he underwent a sports hernia surgery in June in Germany, he will be joined by star all-rounder, who has traveled to NCA for a fitness assessment. He will undergo assessment on August 11 and 12.
A report citing The Times of India (TOI) also added that Suryakumar Yadav is yet to regain complete fitness and as a result he is expected to spend another week at the NCA. The middle-order batter will be training under watchful eyes of the physios and medical team to get fully fit for the Men’s Asia Cup 2025. Furthermore, reports quoting TOI also stated that Shreyas Iyer completed his fitness assessment at the NCA in July end and is set to return for the upcoming tournament.
