The T20 World Cup has reached its final peak where India are taking on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It’s been a magical ride for the Men in Blue except for the game against South
Africa. A lot of players have made important contributions for India to reach the final.
Players like Sanju Samson, Ishan Kisha, Hardik Pandy, Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are the frontline heroes for India and have received a lot of praise for their performances so far. But there are a couple of players who chipped in at the time of need for Gautam Gambhir and gave their best performance.
Let us take a look at the players who have had a lot of impact at this World Cup by just playing one game.
1. Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj has been one of the best all-format pacers that India has ever produced. His ability to get batters in the powerplay coupled with his disciplined bowling at the death makes him an important asset for the Men in Blue. Siraj was brought into the side as a replacement for Harshit Rana who was ruled out due to an injury.
He made his only appearance in the game against USA when Jasprit Bumrah was unfit and brought Miya Magic to the pitch. Siraj was India’s best bowler in that game as he picked three crucial wickets, including a dismissal in his first over. The Gujarat Giants’ man bowled just one wide ball and gave away 29 runs in 4 overs while maintaining an economy rate of 7.20.
2. Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav is one of the most surprising names on this list because of his importance in Gautam Gambhir’s set up. India’s mystery spinner was brought into the lineup during the high voltage clash against Pakistan on February 15. Kuldeep came in the place of Varun Chakravarthy who has played a lot of matches for India at the T20 World Cup.
Yadav picked up a crucial wicket of Mohammed Nawaz in the 12th over and dismantled Pakistan’s lower order. The batters couldn’t read his mystery deliveries and played it very safe against him which is why he gave away just 14 runs in three overs. Kuldeep conceded one boundary in his entire spell and maintained an economy of 4.70.
