During the opening weekend in the Premier League 2025-26 season, Richarlison stamped his authority on the competition in style with a sensational bicycle kick goal against newly promoted Burnley at the Tottenham
Hotspur Stadium in London. The Brazilian forward, who is 28-years-old, registered a brace to his name on the day, to help Tottenham Hotspur win comfortably by 3-0, giving a perfect start to his team in the new season of the Premier League.
The first goal of the new campaign for Tottenham Hotspur was scored in the 10th minute by Richarlison on the turn after impressive work from the new signing Mohammed Kudus in the build-up. During the second half, Kudus was in the thick of things once again in the 60th minute, putting a cross field ball from right to left from just outside the box before Richarlison got to the end of it and pulled off an outrageous bicycle kick, to make it 2-0 against Burnley.

Brennan Johnson made it 3-0 for Tottenham Hotspur just six minutes later before their defense stood firm against the wave of attacks from Burnley late on, to secure three points. After the conclusion of the match, Richarlison was quite happy with Mohammed Kudus setting up his two goals and said, as per Indian Express, “Thank you for the assists (to Mohammed Kudus). I’m so happy with this guy - next week he deserves to score because he works so hard for the team. I think this guy’s Brazilian! I’m so happy with the game.”
When Richarlison was taken off in the 71st minute, getting replaced by Dominic Solanke, the standing ovation from Tottenham Hotspur fans showcased how good he performed on the night for the club, putting the tough last season in the Premier League well in the rear view mirror. In the post-match interview, new club manager Thomas Frank admitted that the bicycle goal from Richarlison is something they probably won’t be able to top this season.
After starting the new Premier League season on a strong note, Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to continue the momentum when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City on Saturday, August 23.
