The attacking pair of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney at Manchester United was a nightmare for the defenders during the peak era of Manchester United. Both of these players combined forces for the best possible outcome for the team and registering goal contributions in most of the matches. The legendary striker was recently seen as a guest on former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand’s podcast where they were seen discussing the good old times at the club and the current problems that the club has been going through.
I never cared about Ballon d'Or's or any individual trophies: Wayne Rooney
When both came across the topic of Cristiano Ronaldo during the podcast, Wayne Rooney described Ronaldo as someone who had a different mentality than others to reach the top. Cristiano always wanted to win every single thing on and off the football field. Rooney stated, "He's got this mindset and mentality which is way beyond anything I've seen in football. My mindset and mentality is not to that level but it's at a level where I want to win."
The former Manchester United striker further added that, "I never cared about Ballon d'Or's or any individual trophies. For me, that's nothing, couldn't care less. I wanted to win with you(Rio); with teammates. Of course Cristiano wanted to win all that with the team but he had that selfish mentality where he wanted everything, I didn't have that."
