Team Indiaall-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy became the centre of attention after notching up his maiden Test ton against Australia in the Melbourne game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Team India lost
the contest against the hosts by 184 runs but Reddy received appreciation for his batting effort. The iconic series also proved to be the last red-ball competition of batting legend Virat Kohli, who struggled to be among the runs. Nitish, who was playing his maiden Test series, was fortunate as he got the opportunity to play alongside Kohli.
Recently, Nitish Kumar Reddy, the part of Bhimavaram Bulls, who are competing in the GMR Andhra Premier League (APL) 2025, spoke to the broadcasters. With them, Nitish divulged his best moment with Virat Kohli in Australia. The 22-year-old said that he felt great when he got his debut Test cap from Kohli before the start of the opening Test played in Perth in November 2024. “There are many memorable moments for me but if you ask me a special moment, the cap which he gave me, my debut cap, that was a special moment and one more was his last Test century and I was there on the non-striker’s end and I was so excited to see him celebrating. That was phenomenal for me to watch,” remarked Nitish. Reddy made his debut against the Aussie side in the Perth Test, which India won by 295 runs.

Nitish Kumar Reddy played all five games in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. He ended up as the second most successful batter for India with 298 runs in nine innings of five games. Discussing the youngster’s bowling numbers in the series down under, he grabbed five wickets in nine innings.
Nitish’s last international appearance came against England in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, held at the iconic Lord’s. During the game, he picked up a knee injury which ruled him out of the Tesr series and ongoing GMR APL 2025.
