On Sunday, November 2, Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women’s team scripted history as they lifted their maiden Women’s Cricket World Cup title, beating South Africa Women by 52 runs in Navi Mumbai. The win
not only brought the World Cup after years of wait, there were scenes of jubilation all around the stadium as well as fans across the nation.
Apart from the team members, members of the Indian cricketing fraternity also showed up for the marquee event. From legends of the game including Jhulan Goswami, Mithali Raj, Anjum Chopra, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma showed up to stand by the Women in Blue in the summit clash and also joined in the post-match celebrations, bringing in a new wave of cheer.

But in one of the videos going viral on social media, former India skipper and veteran of the ODI format, Rohit Sharma was seen getting emotional as the Indian women’s team lifted the title. Watching the match from the stands alongside his wife Ritika Sajdeh, Mumbai Indians (MI) owners Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani, Rohit Sharma was seen getting teary eyed after India Women’s win.

However, the tears definitely were one to rejoice as the they secured a World Cup title, some state that he recollected the 2023 ODI World Cup memories where India lost to Australia in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad after going unbeaten in the tournament.
Notably, Rohit Sharma, who is currently spending some quality time with family after recently featuring in the three-match ODI series against Australia, would hope to continue his prime form when India hosts South Africa in ODI series. He comes after amassing 202 runs from three games with an unbeaten 121 in the Sydney match.
