Serene Mountain Haven
Nestled amidst the tranquil hills of Himachal Pradesh, approximately a two-hour drive from Chandigarh, lies a remarkable eco-retreat designed to harmonize
with nature. Perched at an elevation of about 4,800 feet, this property offers expansive vistas of the majestic Himalayas and the dense, verdant pine forests that surround it. The retreat, conceived with a deep commitment to sustainability, aims to provide a restorative escape, drawing inspiration from traditional craftsmanship and contemporary living. Actor Bhumi Pednekar recently offered a peek into her stay at this haven, highlighting its peaceful ambiance and innovative approach to luxury accommodation, all while embracing the quietude of the mountains.
Ryokan-Style Design
The architectural brilliance of this mountain sanctuary lies in its unique 'ryokan-style' concept, meticulously crafted by Bijoy Jain of Studio Mumbai. Spread across 20 acres of undulating, terraced terrain that was once agricultural land, the structures are built entirely by hand, eschewing cement in favor of traditional building techniques. This approach ensures that the villas seamlessly integrate with the natural landscape. The retreat offers a selection of 15 distinct accommodations, ranging from charming Chalet Suites and intimate Cottages to expansive Private Villas. Each villa is designed to offer a serene, minimalist aesthetic that complements the natural beauty, providing an immersive experience that connects guests with their surroundings.
Culinary Delights
The 'forest-to-table' philosophy is at the heart of the dining experience at this eco-retreat. The commitment to local sourcing is evident, with an abundance of fresh, organic vegetables grown on-site, minimizing the need for long-distance transportation of food. The retreat cultivates a diverse array of fruit trees, including apple, pear, plum, mulberry, fig, and citrus, ensuring a seasonal bounty. Guests can savor curated breakfasts that embody this ethos, featuring delights such as granola with pomegranate, fresh fruits, artisanal breads, revitalizing smoothies, and even white wine. Moreover, visitors have the opportunity to engage in traditional cooking methods, learning to prepare authentic Himachali dishes, making for a truly immersive gastronomic journey.
