Harmanpreet Kaur's mirroring trophy moment in front of the Gateway of India in Mumbai has taken social media by storm for its striking resemblance with MS Dhoni's iconic pose with the 2011 World Cup a little more than 14 years from now. India won their maiden Women's World Cup by getting the better over South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, November 2.
While Dhoni had worn a blazer over a formal shirt, Harmanpreet donned the national ODI jersey during the photoshoot. Both pictures had one
similarity in them which was the beaming smiles exhibited by both the cricketers.
The 2025 Women's World Cup was India's maiden 50-over title in women's cricket. On the other hand, the men's team under Dhoni got their hands on the World Cup title after a wait of 28 years. The women's team lifted the trophy at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, while the men's team had brought the long wait to an end at the iconic Wankhede Stadiium in Mumbai.
While Harmanpreet's team defeated South Africa by 52 runs, Dhoni's group was successful in defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets and 10 balls to spare. Meanwhile, another uncanny similarity between the two campaigns is that the Player of the Tournament award was won by all-rounders. Yuvraj Singh (362 runs and 15 wickets) and Deepti Sharma (215 runs and 22 wickets) won the coveted accolades in 2011 and 2025, respectively.
