Ace Indian cricketer KL Rahulcelebrated his recent ton in a unique manner on Friday, October 3. Rahul struck his 11th Test ton for India against West Indies on Day 2 of the first Test of the two-match
series in Ahmedabad.
The 197-ball 100 was his second Test ton at home after the 199 in the Chennai Test against England in 2016. Rahul reached the milestone in the 65th over of India's first innings by whipping the ball past short midwicket to jog through for a single.
He then removed his helmet, raised his bat and put two fingers in his mouth in a unique celebration. Speaking after the end of the day's play to broadcasters, Rahul revealed that the celebration was for Evaarah, his and Athiya Shetty's daughter who was born in March 2025.
Unfortunately for Rahul, he could not add to his score as he was dismissed by Jomel Warrican immediately after Lunch as he was caught at covers by Justin Greaves. The 33-year-old's fine knock comprised 12 fours.
Meanwhile, India ended the day on 448/5 in 128 overs. Dhruv Jurel (125 off 210) and Ravindra Jadeja (104* off 176) forged a 206-run stand for the fifth wicket. Jurel's stunning knock came to an end as the wicketkeeper-batter became Khary Pierre's maiden Test wicket.
Jadeja and Washington Sundar (9* off 13) will resume India's batting on the third day of the contest. The hosts already have a massive 286-run lead. It seems increasingly difficult for a young and relatively inexperienced West Indian side to script a comeback from here.
Out of the five batters to fall, Sai Sudharsan was the only one who registered a single-digit score. He was dismissed for 7 off 19.
