Lions and opted to bowl first. Opening batters Colin Munro and Aaron Johnson were dismissed for single-digit scores, but Chadwick Walton took the New York bowlers to the cleaners. Mikyle Louis also gave him great company during his 14-run knock off nine balls.
When Walton was dismissed at the start of the ninth over, Dallas had 85 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets. The base was set for a strong finish, but Dallas only managed six runs off the last 11 deliveries and lost four wickets. They finished on 91/9 in their 10 overs.
Benny Howell was the pick of the bowlers for New York, bagging three wickets for 11 runs in two overs. Parnell and Junaid Siddique bagged two wickets apiece.
In reply, Emilio Gay and Adam Rossington couldn't add much of a partnership for the opening stand. Rehman Dar hit a couple of boundaries before perishing. Jaskaran Malhotra also got a quickfire start but couldn't capitalise.
Samit Patel bowled brilliantly through the middle overs, preventing New York from building any sort of momentum. Wickets kept falling one after another as the Lions were bowled out for 73 in 9.3 overs. Sami finished with sensational figures of 3/11 in two overs. Aaron Johnson also contributed nicely with a two-for. For New York, Dar and Malhotra were the highest scorers, aggregating 13 runs each.
