Chicago CC's National Cricket League (NCL) T10 2025 campaign went from bad to worse as they crushed to their fifth consecutive defeat on Friday, October 10, at the University of Texas Dallas. They lost to Dallas Lonestars CC by six wickets in a high-scoring affair.
Chicago skipper Dilshan Munaweera won the toss on Friday and opted to bat first. Three out of the top-four batters were dismissed for single-digit scores, but wicketkeeper Rajdeep Darbar contributed with an exhilarating 16 off just six balls. Udar Bhagwan enthralled the spectators in attendance with his 14-ball 24. However, it was Ashley Nurse's blitzkrieg towards the back-end of the innings which helped Chicago get past the 100-run mark.
The West Indies all-rounder smashed his way to an unbeaten 37 off just 10 balls. He hit one four and five sixes during his belligerent knock. Paul van Meekeren, however, bowled a brilliant last over, picking up two wickets, to keep Chicago down to 104/8 in their 10 overs. Meekeren finished with mind-boggling figures of 4/10 in two overs.
In reply, Elmore Hutchinson accounted for the wicket of the in-form Aaron Johnson in the second over. However, experienced players Colin Munro and Chadwick Walton took the attack to the Chicago bowlers during a quickfire 36-run partnership, which came off just 19 balls. Walton departed in the fifth over as Rahul Sharma sent him packing.
However, from 48/1, Dallas slumped to 57/4 in no time. Mikyle Louis and Munro were dismissed off consecutive deliveries by Munaweera. The Kiwi batter slammed 22 off just 12 balls.
Dallas captain Samit Patel played a gem of an innings, smashing an unbeaten 34 off 13 balls with the help of two fours and sixes. He took his team to victory in nine overs with Mario Rampersaud (10*) for company.
