'He had to leave, there wasn’t much time' - Gujarat bowler Vishal Jayswal reveals brief exchange Virat Kohli after VHT clash

Spin-bowling all-rounder Vishal Jayswalhas revealed his post-match interaction with ace Indian batter Virat Kohli after a recent 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy match. Kohli was amongst the four wickets Jayswal picked up in Gujarat's recent clash with Delhi.

Jayswal recounted that his aim was to get the match ball signed by Kohli. He also noted the encouraging words Kohli shared with him on his bowling and future endeavours. 

“He also had to leave, there wasn’t much time. As soon as the match ended, I wanted

his signature on that ball, so I went to meet him. I got his signature on the ball. We didn’t talk much. He just said that I was bowling well, to keep at it, that I was doing a good job, and that I would get more opportunities going forward,” shared Jayswal in an interview with KADAK.

The 27-year-old reflected that he was getting continuous calls from his family members who were overjoyed with the fact that he dismissed of one of world's greatest batters.

“Yes, after the match, I got a call from home. Everyone was very happy. They also follow Virat Kohli and know that he is such a big star. Everyone was congratulating me, saying that I did well and brought some recognition and pride. They told me to keep working hard like this,” he added.

To conclude, the southpaw mentioned that he would want to play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru along with Kohli if provided with the opportunity.

“If I get an opportunity in the IPL, I would prefer to play for RCB. Getting the chance to play alongside Virat bhai would be a very big thing for me. So if I get the opportunity to play, I would like to play for RCB. Yes, I like RCB,” noted Jayswal.

Other than 11 First-Class matches and 16 T20s, Jayswal has played 15 List A games so far. He has registered 223 runs at a strike rate of 122.52 while picking up 11 wickets at an economy rate of 5.49 for Gujarat.
