The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 is set to get underway on Friday, January 9, in Navi Mumbai, with defending champions Mumbai Indians Women taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women in the opening
match. Over the years, the WPL has emerged as a perfect platform for young and emerging cricketers to showcase their talent on the biggest stage.
With international stars sharing the dressing room, uncapped Indian players often get the opportunity to learn, grow, and make a strong impression. As the new season approaches, CricTracker has a look at the top three uncapped batters who will be in the spotlight this year.
Here are the top 3 uncapped batters to watch out for in WPL 2026
Niki Prasad
The 20-year-old Niki Prasad is one of the most promising batters heading into WPL 2026. Representing Delhi Capitals, she featured in three innings last season, scoring 78 runs, a modest return, but one that does not fully reflect her potential. She shot to prominence after leading the India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2024-25, showcasing her leadership qualities.
Playing alongside experienced internationals such as Jemimah Rodrigues, Laura Wolvaardt, and Marizanne Kapp will be invaluable for her development. With increased confidence and exposure, Prasad will be keen to make the most of her opportunities this season.
Deeya Yadav
Deeya Yadav is the youngest player to feature in the WPL and has already sparked a lot of buzz. Picked by Delhi Capitals Women, the hard-hitting top-order batter from Haryana is known for her aggressive approach, drawing comparisons to Shafali Verma. Deeya enjoyed an impressive domestic T20 season in 2025-26, scoring 298 runs in eight innings at a remarkable average of 59.50 and a strike-rate of 128.
She is fearless in her stroke play, confident against both pace and spin, and could turn out to be a game-changer if given consistent chances. The WPL stage offers her the perfect environment to learn from senior players and translate her domestic success to the highest level.
Simran Shaikh
Simran Shaikh is another uncapped batter to keep an eye on in the upcoming season of the premier T20 tournament. She was part of UP Warriorz Women in 2023 but was released ahead of the following season due to limited returns. After going unsold last season, Simran worked hard at the domestic level and impressed while representing Mumbai’s Under-19 women’s team.
So far, she has scored 83 runs in 12 innings across her stints with two WPL franchises. Returning to UP Warriorz this season, Simran will be eager to make a strong comeback and prove her worth on the big stage.
