In an exhilarating day of Canada Super 60 action at the iconic BC Place in Vancouver, the Mississauga Masters cemented their berth in the semi-finals with a 47-run victory over the Whiterock Warriors. Opener Leus de Plooy notched a sensational half-century, smashing three fours and eight sixes for 68 runs in only 26 balls as the Masters posted a mammoth 153/4. Ravi Bopara (20 off 13) featured in a 40-run opening stand, while Saif Zaib (31 off 12) carved four sixes to complement de Plooy’s innings.
Up against a formidable total, the Whiterock Warriors saw starts from their top order. Captain Chris Lynn (37 off 17) looked in fine form alongside David Malan (19 off 12) and Joe Clarke (19 off 11), but once the top three departed, the innings unravelled quickly. Ali Khan (2/22) and Rushil Ugarkar (3/24) picked up key wickets through the innings, while Shubham Rajane conceded no runs and claimed three wickets in the span of five balls to skittle the Warriors for 106 in 9.5 overs.
Bajwa lifts Montreal Royal Tigers to 43-run win over Brampton
Dilpreet Bajwa’s quick-fire half-century powered the Montreal Royal Tigers to a 43-run victory over the Brampton Blitz. Batting first, Bajwa hammered 57 runs in just 18 balls, smashing five fours and five sixes on his way there. He was aided by a late flourish from Shreyas Movva (22 off 12), helping the Royal Tigers post 130/7 in 10 overs. Chris Greaves was the pick of the Blitz bowling attack with figures of 3/24, while captain David Wiese bowled a frugal spell conceding just 11 runs in his two overs.
The Brampton Blitz run chase never found its footing, faltering to 35/4 by the halfway mark. Wiese (23 off 18) and Roelof van der Merwe (22 off 6) top-scored for the Blitz, but they finished well short of their target at 87/6. Isuru Udana was exceptional with the ball for the Royal Tigers, returning figures of 2/12.
Pienaar’s explosive knock steers Vancouver Kings to 8-wicket win
In another fixture, the Vancouver Kings breezed past the Toronto Sixers by eight wickets. Though Jason Roy (30 off 16) gave the Sixers a promising start, Kings’ Jaskarandeep Singh (4/10) produced an exceptional four-wicket haul to run through the top order and limit their total to 96/9. Skipper Dan Christian (16 off 6) and Mark Watt (16 off 8) provided some late firepower to the innings.
In response, the Kings cruised home on the back of Obus Pienaar’s blistering half-century. Coming in at 23/2 in 2.4 overs, Pienaar racked up an unbeaten 67 runs in just 18 balls, studded with two fours and nine sixes. He found support from opener Max Chu (15 off 10) earlier, followed by Moeen Ali (12* off 9) as they romped home in 6.5 overs.
