Star Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana's wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed after her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suffered symptoms of a possible heart attack and was
rushed to a hospital in Sangli. Furthermore, Palash himself was hospitalised the following day. After postponing the events, Smriti deleted all wedding-related posts from her social media.
Smriti and Palash, who have reportedly been together for six years, were set to tie the knot in an intimate ceremony in Sangli on November 23. Pre-wedding festivities such as the Mehendi, Haldi, Sangeet, and even a fun Bride Team vs Groom Team cricket match had already taken place, with several members of the Indian women’s cricket team joining the celebrations. Their engagement announcement, proposal videos, and behind-the-scenes moments had also gone viral.
The celebrations came to an abrupt halt when Shrinivas fell seriously ill during breakfast. According to Smriti’s manager, the family initially hoped it was something minor, but he was later taken by ambulance to Sarvhit Hospital, where he remains under observation. The Indian vice-captain immediately decided that the wedding would be postponed indefinitely until his condition stabilised.
Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil delete wedding posts
Just as the family began processing the situation, another scare surfaced, with reports that Palash had also been admitted to a hospital in Sangli. Though he was later discharged and has since returned to Mumbai, the back-to-back health emergencies reinforced the couple’s decision to put all celebrations on hold.
Following this, all wedding, engagement, and proposal posts, including the viral videos shared by her and Palash, were removed. Close friends and teammates like Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil also deleted the engagement confirmation video. Meanwhile, Smriti had recently played a crucial role in India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup win, scoring 434 runs in the tournament.
