'Did you say like a movie?' - Jacob Oram reacts to Rilee Rossouw's stunning take on IPL vs PSL debate

Reporters in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have often asked players and coaches about incidents in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during press conferences. Quetta Gladiators' batter Rilee Rossouw recently compared the two leagues, mentioning that the IPL feels "more movie than the actual cricket" while PSL is much more compact, with fierce competition.

When Rossouw's take was brought up in front of Islamabad United's coach Jacob Oram, the former New Zealand all-rounder couldn't stop laughing. Oram said

that he had played in the IPL a long time ago and over the years, the tournament has grown into a behemoth. However, he stated that he is enjoying his time coaching in the PSL and hoped that his team would play in front of packed stadiums going forward.

Reporter: Recently, Rilee Rossouw said the Pakistan Super League is a more competitive and compact league, and IPL feels like a movie rather than actual cricket. So what's your thought on it?

Jacob Oram: Did you say like a movie? (laughing)

Reporter: I didn't say it, Rilee Rossouw did.

Jacob Oram: "Similar tournaments but very different. The IPL is twice as long, but I haven't coached in the IPL, I have only played there. That was a long time ago. It has grown into a bit of a behemoth. In terms of coaching, this is my first opportunity in the PSL, and I am loving it. The Islamabad United group, from the staff to the players to everyone, has been so welcoming. I would love to have crowds here, for the atmosphere and the vibe, but I understand the reasons why they are not here. Everything else is well looked after, well catered for. So far, so good here, loving it. We are very happy to be here."

Another day, another question about the IPL in the PSL 2026.

Quetta Gladiators have played five matches so far in the PSL, having won three and lost two. On the other hand, Oram's Islamabad United have registered three wins and two defeats from six games, with one being washed out.
