The five-time Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will host Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 4. The Hardik Pandya-led side are having a horrific IPL 2026, managing to win just two of their nine matches in the season.
With just four points to their name, they are on the verge of elimination from the competition. So, this becomes an important clash for them to stay alive in the tournament.
LSG, on the other hand, are a struggling unit too. The Rishabh
Pant side is the lowest ranked team so far in IPL 2026, as they have only managed to win two of their eight matches so far.
Here's MI's predicted Playing XI vs LSG in Match 47, IPL 2026
Top-order: Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton (WK), Naman Dhir
The Mumbai Indians side will continue to back the opening pair of Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton despite mixed results. Rohit Sharma continues to sit outside due to an injury. Will Jacks give an all-round presence, and is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball.
Rickelton, on the other hand, has been one of MI’s most consistent batters in this season, scoring 297 runs so far. Naman Dhir has been given the number 3 slot, and is coming off after a decent knock against CSK. With the match being played at the Wankhede Stadium, the top-order’s role becomes even more critical.
Middle-order: Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Robin Minz
Suryakumar Yadav has been a disappointment for the five-time champions this season. The right-hander has scored only 183 runs so far. If MI wants to come back to winning ways, he needs to step-up. Tilak Varma, too, apart from his epic century against GT, has not been consistent enough.
Captain Hardik Pandya is clearly struggling with the bat, and is unable to give his side strong finishes. Robin Minz comes with a lot of expectations, and is yet to deliver. He is known for his attacking batting style.
Bowlers: Krish Bhagat, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, AM Ghazanfar
The experienced duo of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the MI bowling attack. Boult has been far from his best in this season, and that has hampered the Mumbai-based franchise, especially in the bowling powerplays. Jasprit Bumrah, despite being economical, has struggled to pick up wickets, claiming just three so far.
AM Ghazanfar has undoubtedly been MI’s best bowler this season. The Afghan spinner has picked up 11 wickets so far, and has been brilliant in the middle-overs. Krish Bhagat is yet to make his mark, but gives a good option. .
MI's predicted playing XI:
Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton (WK), Naman Dhir, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Robin Minz, Krish Bhagat, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, AM Ghazanfar
Impact Player: Raghu Sharma
