Video of the Day: T20 World Cup 2026 - Briant Bennett's air-borne catch at SSC can't be missed

Brian Bennett produced a brilliance on the field at the Sinhalese Sports Club on Sunday that instantly went viral during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup clash between Zimbabwe and Oman. In a game already tilting heavily in Zimbabwe’s favour, Bennett’s airborne catch in the final over summed up the team's overall dominance.

The moment took place on the penultimate ball of the innings. Brad Evans rolled his fingers over a slower delivery angled into the stumps, tempting Nadeem Khan to step out and swing

across the line. The shot was mistimed and flew towards deep midwicket. Bennett sprinted nearly 15 to 20 metres to his right, jumping himself full stretch, and plucked the ball mid-air with both hands. Even after crashing onto the turf and completing the catch brilliantly. The commentator labelled the effort as the catch of the tournament.

That stunning effort capped a near-perfect bowling display from Zimbabwe, who dismantled Oman for just 103 in 19.5 overs. The tall pace trio of Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and Brad Evans proved far too much for Oman’s batters. 

Oman never recovered from a poor powerplay. Muzarabani struck with his very first ball, removing captain Jatinder Singh, before Ngarava added to the pressure. By the end of the fourth over, Oman were struggling at 17 for 4. Evans and Sikandar Raza later squeezed through the middle overs. There was a brief stand between Sufyan Mehmood and Vinayak Shukla, who stitched pushed the team's total over 100. Shukla. However, Zimbabwe's pacers accounted for nine of the ten wickets.

It is also worth noting that 103 runs is the lowest total against Zimbabwe in a T20 World Cup match. Zimbabwe seamers picked seven wickets with short-balls, which is the most a team lost on such deliveries in an innings in the T20 World Cup.
