The Lucknow Super Giants recorded their first win at home in the 2026 Indian Premier League as they beat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru by nine runs in a rain-curtailed match at the BRSABV Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Being put in to bat, Mitchell Marsh took the attack to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers as fellow opener Arshin Kulkarni failed to get going. The pair stitched a 95-run stand off 56 balls, off which Arshin scored just 17 off 24. The innings was halted multiple times due to rain
delays, which saw the match reduced to 19 overs per side.
Nicholas Pooran also joined the attack as Marsh reached his century off just 49 balls, his first of the season. Marsh fell for a well-made 111 off just 56 balls, as Pooran was joined by skipper Rishabh Pant in the back end of the innings. Pooran fell for 38 off 23 balls, but Pant remained unbeaten with a cameo 32 runs off just 10 balls, which took the Super Giants to 209/3.
Chasing the DLS revised target of 213, the defending champions were dented early as they lost Jacob Bethell in the first over of the game. Prince Yadav cleaned up Virat Kohli with a nip-backer in the following over, leaving RCB reeling at 9/2. Devdutt Padikkal and skipper Rajat Patidar came together to stitch a 95-run stand off 53 balls.
Prince Yadav came back to dismiss Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma in the same over. Rajat Patidar fell for a well-made 61 off 31 before falling to Shahbaz Ahmed. Tim David took on the Lucknow Super Giants bowlers at the back end, scoring a 17-ball 40 before falling to Shahbaz Ahmed. Romario Shepherd and Krunal Pandya took the game to the Super Giants, but Digvesh Rathi held his nerve to defend 20 runs off the final over to take the Super Giants home by nine runs.
