The Men’s Selection Committee has named Yash Thakur as a replacement for Harshit Rana in India’s squads for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games.
Harshit Rana was progressing well during his rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). He sustained a rectus femoris strain while bowling during a match simulation on September 7 and has subsequently been ruled out.
Yash, the 27-year-old fast bowler from Vidarbha, recently made his T20I debut during India’s tour of
Zimbabwe in July. He played two matches and took four wickets. He has featured in 50 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches, picking up 81 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.04.
What about Jasprit Bumrah?
The BCCI seems to be in no mood to rush for the return of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Although the Ahmedabad-born is named in both squads, there is currently no update on whether he is fully fit to take part in professional cricket. However, Bumrah, in all likeliness, will be seen making a return in the three-match series against Afghanistan.
What is the update on Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy?
Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have both received their fitness clearance from the CoE in Bengaluru and will soon be linking up with the Indian team in New Delhi ahead of the series opener at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday, September 13.
