South African pace legend Dale Steyn rolled back the years with a spirited performance in the World Legends Pro T20 League 2026 while representing Maharashtra Tycoons against Delhi Warriors on January 30. Although his team narrowly lost the contest, Steyn’s quirky celebration became the talking point of the match.
Steyn struck early to dent Delhi’s top order. He bowled a probing good-length delivery to wicketkeeper-batter Yogesh Takawale, which beat the batter completely and trapped him plumb in front
of the stumps, dismissing him for just one run. Then it was followed by loud cheers as Steyn walked to the stumps, lifted them, and limped away theatrically, turning the moment into a humorous celebration.
The right-arm pacer soon added another scalp by removing Gurkeerat Singh Mann for eight runs, with Praveen Gupta taking the catch. Despite Steyn tightening the game with timely wickets, Delhi Warriors managed to chase down the target without pressure.
Dale Steyn reminding everyone why he’s the GOAT 🐐🔥
(Watch out for that special celebration 🤣)

Earlier, Maharashtra Tycoons posted a competitive 161 for 5 in 20 overs. Stuart Binny led the charge with a blistering 63 off 31 balls, smashing five fours and five sixes. He found strong support from Chris Gayle, and the pair stitched together a rapid 98-run partnership in 49 balls for the third wicket. Delhi responded with a disciplined bowling effort, as five bowlers claimed one wicket each to restrict the scoring.
In reply, Delhi Warriors chased down the target with four balls to spare. Sheldon Jackson anchored the innings with 52 off 29 balls, including four fours and four sixes. He received good support from Irfan Pathan, who scored 32, and Isuru Udana, whose unbeaten 36 proved decisive. Jackson and Pathan added 58 runs in 33 balls, while Udana’s late fireworks sealed a three-wicket win.
For Maharashtra, Dale Steyn and Peter Siddle picked up two wickets each. With this victory, Delhi Warriors remained top with three wins from three matches. Maharashtra Tycoons have one win from three games. Delhi face Gurugram Thunders on February 1, while Maharashtra take on Pune Panthers the same day at the 1919 Sportz Cricket Stadium in Goa.
