Both ODIs followed more or less the same script. Electing to field first on both times, the hosts bowled out England cheaply during the first innings. Harry Brook plundered a 101-ball 135-run knock in the series-opening clash to survive a top-order
collapse. However, half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell led New Zealand to a comfortable win.
The Three Lions were dismissed for an even lower score in the second match. Blair Tickner, making an international comeback after two-plus years, secured the Player of the Match award for his four-wicket haul (4/34 in 8 overs). For New Zealand, alongside Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra was amongst the runs this time around. The Mitchell Santner-led unit won the second match by five wickets and 101 balls to spare.
