The fans at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara for the first ODI between India and New Zealand were in for a treat on Sunday, January 11, as star cricketer Virat Kohli kept them entertained throughout. Kohli, a fan favourite wherever he plays, pulled out the famous Naagin Dance move after Glenn Phillips was dismissed for a 19-ball 12.
The incident happened during the 34th over, as star spinner Kuldeep Yadav trapped Phillips as the latter attempted a cover drive, only to find a leading edge, that landed in Shreyas
Iyer's safe pair of hands. As the players engaged in a huddle to celebrate the wicket, Kohli brought the Naagin Dance out, celebrating the breakthrough of the dangerous batter.

Coming to the match, the first encounter of the three-match series kicked off in grand style, as India chose to bowl first after winning the toss. The visiting side was off to a flying start, as openers Henry Nicholls and Devon Conway shared 117 runs for the first wicket. The Indians were looking clueless, but Harshit Rana's wickets in successive overs sent both the batters packing, opening the gates for a downfall.
Will Young departed after adding 12 runs from his side, as the BlackCaps lost three wickets inside a span of 29 runs. However, two more wickets by the 38th over meant that the Michael Bracewell-led side lost half the batters, with 198 on the board. The Kiwis will now look to rebuild and take the scoreboard to a respectable total at the end of the innings.
As of writing, the tourists are 212 for the loss of five wickets, Daryl Mitchell and Bracewell in the middle. Since ten more overs are remaining in the innings, it will be interesting to see what the eventual target for India will be when they come out to bat.
