Vidarbha clinched their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 title with a convincing 38-run victory over Saurashtra in the final at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru, on Sunday, January 18.

After winning

the toss, Saurashtra opted to bowl first, but Vidarbha put up an imposing total of 317/8 in 50 overs. The foundation was laid by Atharva Taide, who played a magnificent knock of 128 off 118 balls, anchoring the innings with authority. He was well supported by Yash Rathod, who chipped in with a valuable 54 off 61 deliveries. For Saurashtra, Ankur Panwar was the standout bowler, finishing with figures of 4/65.

In response, Saurashtra showed resilience but fell short, getting bowled out for 279 in 48.5 overs. Prerak Mankad led the charge with a fighting 88 off 92 balls, while Chirag Jani contributed a brisk 64 off 63 to keep the contest alive. However, Vidarbha’s disciplined bowling proved decisive, with Yash Thakur starring with 4/50, and Nachiket Bhute providing excellent support by picking up 3/46.

Vidarbha’s title triumph capped off an impressive campaign. They finished second in the group stage, winning five of their seven matches, before defeating Delhi in the quarter-final and Karnataka in the semi-final, eventually overcoming Saurashtra in the final to lift the trophy for the first time in their history.
