India completed a series sweep over West Indies on October 14, 2025, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, winning the second Test of the two-match series by

seven wickets. The win has also strengthened their position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.

Winning the toss, India captain Shubman Gill opted to bat first. The hosts posted a commanding 518/5 in 134.2 overs before declaring. The left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with 175 off 258 balls, including 22 boundaries, while Sai Sudharsan contributed a solid 87 runs. Gill remained unbeaten on 129 from 196 balls, striking 16 fours and two sixes. For West Indies, Jomel Warrican was the pick of the bowlers with 3/98.

In reply, West Indies were bundled out for 248 in 81.5 overs, with Alick Athanaza top-scoring with 41. Kuldeep Yadav led the Indian attack with 5/82, supported by Ravindra Jadeja’s 3/46, enforcing the follow-on.

The visitors showed resilience in their second innings, scoring 390/9 in 118.5 overs. John Campbell played a brilliant knock of 115 off 199 balls, including 12 fours and three sixes, while Shai Hope followed with 103 from 214 balls, featuring 12 boundaries and two maximums. Justin Greaves remained unbeaten on 50. From the Indian bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav (3/104) and Jasprit Bumrah (3/44) ensured the innings concluded with India setting a modest target for themselves.

Chasing 121 for victory, India achieved the target comfortably in 35.2 overs on the final day. KL Rahul anchored the chase with an unbeaten 58, while Dhruv Jurel scored 6* remained at the crease. Roston Chase was the most successful bowler for West Indies in the second innings, finishing with 2/36.

With this comprehensive win, India not only sealed the Test series 2-0 but also showcased the depth of their batting and bowling units. India hold third position in World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2025-27 with this series win, while the Caribbean are positioned at sixth with five losses in the cycle.

Next, India will travel for a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series, while West Indies will prepare to face Bangladesh in the 50-over format.
