The WPL 2027 player auction is scheduled for October 28 in Kochi, with 146 players vying for 27 available slots across five franchises. The event will
be held at the Grand Hyatt Kochi, beginning at 5:30 PM IST.
The auction pool consists of 119 Indian players and 27 overseas players. Among those in the pool are several notable names who were released during the retention window, and franchises will be keen to snap up the best of them.
Here are five released players teams might target in WPL auction 2027:
1. Grace Harris
Grace Harris was released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru ahead of the WPL 2027 auction, a decision widely regarded as the biggest shock of the retention window. The Australian all-rounder had scored 237 runs at a strike rate approaching 180 in the most recent WPL season, making her one of the most destructive batters in the competition. Harris enters the auction at a base price of ₹30 lakh as a capped overseas all-rounder. Given her proven record of scoring quickly at the top of the order, multiple franchises are expected to show strong interest when her name comes up on October 28.
2. Sneh Rana
Delhi Capitals have released veteran Indian all-rounder Sneh Rana ahead of the WPL 2027 auction. Rana brings elite experience, leadership and a balanced skillset to any side, and spin-bowling all-rounders of her calibre are not easy to find in the WPL pool. She enters the auction as a capped Indian all-rounder at a base price of ₹30 lakh. Rana was noted for her vast experience in the domestic circuit as far back as the 2023 WPL auction, and that standing has only grown since. Franchises looking to strengthen their middle order while adding a reliable bowling option will find her an attractive proposition on auction day.
3. Sophie Molineux
Sophie Molineux is one of only two players in the entire WPL 2027 auction list carrying a base price of ₹50 lakh, the highest available, alongside Sophia Dunkley. The left-arm spinner and lower-order contributor took 12 wickets during the 2024 WPL season, a campaign that ended with RCB lifting the title. She missed the 2025 WPL season due to a knee injury and now returns to the auction pool as a capped Australian all-rounder. Her proven ability to take wickets in the powerplay and contribute with the bat makes her one of the most sought-after names in the pool, and her ₹50 lakh base price reflects that standing.
4. Kiran Navgire
UP Warriorz released Kiran Navgire as part of a major squad overhaul that saw nine players let go in total, the most of any franchise ahead of the WPL 2027 auction. Navgire is a power-hitting batter capable of operating in the top four and has the ability to clear the boundary with regularity. She enters the auction as a capped Indian batter at a base price of ₹40 lakh. With UP Warriorz themselves holding the most slots to fill at the auction, there is an intriguing possibility that they could look to bring her back, while other franchises seeking a hard-hitting top-order option will also be watching closely.
5. Jess Jonassen
Jess Jonassen, the veteran Australian left-arm spinner, played a crucial role for Delhi Capitals across previous seasons. Renowned for her composure under pressure, particularly during the death overs, and her sharp cricketing intelligence, she has established herself as one of the most reliable defensive spinners in world cricket, consistently delivering economical spells and crucial breakthroughs.
