Rohit Sharma has been one of India's batting mavericks in the ODI format. Since starting to open the batting in 2013, he has been one of India's foundations
of a dominant legacy in the format. He has scored 11757 runs in 287 matches, averaging 48.58 and striking at 92.76. He is India's third-highest run-scorer in the format and has scored 33 centuries, with a record three of them being double centuries.
With speculations over his retirement from ODI cricket doing the rounds on social media after the second ODI against England, we take a look at the mercurial batter's best knocks since 2025 and what has been his last leg in the format. In that span, he has scored 891 runs in 22 innings, averaging 42.42 and striking at 96.95 with two centuries.
Here are Rohit Sharma's top 3 knocks in ODI cricket since 2025:
3) 119 (90) vs England, Cuttack, February 9, 2025
This was Rohit's first ODI century in 2025, against a hapless England side who were struggling to cope with the spinning conditions in India despite possessing multiple star players. Batting first on a sunny afternoon in Cuttack, England were bundled out for 304, with half-centuries from Joe Root and Ben Duckett.
Chasing the daunting total, Rohit immediately took the attack to the inexperienced England attack, racing to his half-century off 30 balls. He eventually reached his century in just 78 balls, before falling for 119. His knock set the platform for India's chase, which they completed with 5.3 overs to spare. His knock was laced with 12 fours and seven sixes, as he killed the game off from the start.
2) 121* (125) vs Australia, Sydney, October 25, 2025
Rohit's most recent ODI century came in another thrilling run-chase, this time against Australia at the SCG. This was a much-anticipated series with Rohit and his fellow batting maverick, Virat Kohli, returning to the Indian side after they retired from the Test format. The Aussies had already sealed the series with two wins, but found themselves bowled out for 236 in the third ODI after electing to bat. India's Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets.
Fans were treated to a throwback batting spectacle as Rohit scored a magnificent unbeaten 121 off 125 balls to anchor the chase, stitching a 168-run partnership with Kohli, reminiscent of the times the pair have taken teams down in tandem. Rohit's knock was laced with 13 fours and three sixes, taking India to a nine-wicket victory.
1) 78 (83) vs New Zealand, Dubai, March 9, 2025
The 2025 Champions Trophy was the big feather in Rohit Sharma's cap as the skipper of the ODI side, and what better way to lead your team to a trophy than top-score in the final. Taking on a dominant New Zealand side, India were brilliant with the ball, restricting the Kiwis to 251 for 7 in their 50 overs. Due to the sluggish nature of the wicket, the total seemed adequate for the Kiwis.
Rohit stitched a 105-run opening stand with Shubman Gill, which set the platform for the chase. The Mumbai man was the aggressor in the partnership and gave India the start they needed with a knock of 76 runs off 83 balls, consisting of seven fours and three sixes. He fell with the score at 122 for 3, but the team got through despite a flurry of wickets in the middle. Rohit was adjudged Player of the Match for his knock, which took India to their first 50-over ICC title since 2013.
