The Duleep Trophy 2025 is all set to kick off on August 28, with the opening day featuring two exciting clashes, North Zone vs East Zone and Central Zone vs North East Zone.
The tournament has long been a platform for emerging domestic talents to showcase their skills and push for a place in the national setup. This season, too, several youngsters will be looking to make their mark. On that note, let us take a look at three uncapped players who could light up the competition.
3 uncapped players to watch out for in Duleep Trophy 2025
Vijaykumar Vyshak
The right-arm pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and will be one of the bowlers to watch in this year’s tournament. Currently featuring in the Maharaja T20 Trophy in Mysore, Vyshak has already built an impressive first-class record with 103 wickets in 26 matches at an average of 23.
He is known for his disciplined lines and lengths, and has troubled batters consistently and proved to be a match-winner for Karnataka on several occasions. His most recent outing in the Ranji Trophy against Bihar saw him pick four wickets across both innings. South Zone will be banking on him to provide crucial breakthroughs.
Abhimanyu Easwaran
East Zone skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran is another player who could shine in the Duleep Trophy. A seasoned domestic performer, Easwaran has often been on the fringes of the Indian team, having been part of the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy without making his debut.
In last year’s Ranji Trophy, he made the most of his single appearance, scoring 132 runs across two innings. With a strong first-class average of 48, Easwaran will look to lead from the front and give East Zone a strong start against North Zone.
Harsh Dubey
The all-rounder Harsh Dubey had a breakthrough season in the last Ranji Trophy, emerging as the leading wicket-taker with 69 wickets in 10 matches at a remarkable average of 16.98, including seven five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket match hauls.
With the bat, he made valuable contributions, scoring 476 runs, which played a huge role in Vidarbha’s third Ranji Trophy triumph in the past six seasons. Representing the Central Zone, Dubey will once again be a player to watch, especially with his ability to impact games with both bat and ball.
