But, everything was put behind and the England camp invited Indian players for a customary post-series catch-up.
As per reports from The Indian Express, India and England players shared memorable times, where they let bygones be bygones and appreciated the effort put in by the opponent before the Indian team boarded flight on Tuesday. During the meeting, several heartwarming incidents took place and that erased the bitter past within both camps.
Notably, the two players even defied pain and showed resilience by turning up for their team despite being severely inured. Rishabh Pant walked out to a thunderous ovation from the Old Trafford spectators with a fractured to to save his team, while Chris Woakes came in as a last batter to help his team survive at The Oval.
The Indian cricketers acknowledged the England all-rounder for his fighting entrance at The Oval, where he played with his left arm in a sling and tucked inside a jumper. English players as well also asked the wicketkeeper-batter Pant about his fractured toe and how he is holding up.
The report also claims that several young Indian youngsters surrounded the English veteran Joe Root to pick his brains on how he is being consistent for a long period of time. Root now stands next to the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar in the overall runs tally in the red-ball format. Root surpassed Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting and Rahul Dravid's tally in the same innings.
"He [Root] was asked how he has sustained top form for so long and many things about his batting," a team official said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The beginning of the afterparty was all towards the right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj. He bowled like a machine throughout the series, bowling 185 overs and scalping 23 wickets to end as the leading wicket-taker in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
England captain Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Root, and head coach Brendon McCullum all hailed Siraj for his consistency and energy shown in the field. With memories to cherish, the England tour came to an end on a positive note.
