Assam's BJP Landslide
Today's Chanakya forecasts a resounding victory for the BJP-led alliance in Assam, signaling another term for Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The projections
indicate a significant lead over the Congress, which appears to be trailing considerably. Specifically, the BJP alliance is estimated to secure between 93 and 111 seats, averaging 102 seats in the state assembly. In stark contrast, the Congress-led alliance is predicted to win a mere 14 to 32 seats, averaging 23 seats, with 'others' expected to secure only about 1 seat. This outcome suggests a robust mandate for the ruling party, continuing their dominance in the state that was once a stronghold of Gaurav Gogoi's father, Tarun Gogoi.
Kerala's Neck-and-Neck Race
The electoral landscape in Kerala is predicted to be a fiercely contested battle, with Today's Chanakya projecting a very close finish between the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the main opposition United Democratic Front (UDF). The projections show the UDF potentially winning between 60 and 78 seats, averaging 69 seats. The LDF is not far behind, expected to secure between 55 and 73 seats, averaging 64 seats. This indicates a highly competitive scenario where the final results could swing either way. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to secure a marginal presence, with projections estimating between 3 and 11 seats, averaging 7 seats, while other smaller parties are likely to win very few, if any, seats.
West Bengal's BJP Surge
In a significant projection that alters the current political scenario, Today's Chanakya forecasts a substantial mandate for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal. The exit poll suggests the BJP could win as many as 192 seats, potentially ending the 15-year rule of Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress (TMC). The TMC is predicted to be reduced to 100 seats, shifting them to the opposition benches. This outcome, if realized, would mark a historic moment, paving the way for the BJP to form its government in the state for the first time. The intense campaign, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, appears to have significantly influenced voter sentiment, according to these predictions.
Tamil Nadu's DMK Retains Power
The exit poll predictions for Tamil Nadu indicate that the alliance led by MK Stalin's Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is poised to comfortably retain power. The DMK alliance is projected to win 125 seats in the 234-member assembly. The predictions also suggest that the new political entrant, Vijay's Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), could play a spoiler role, potentially impacting the main opposition alliance led by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The AIADMK is estimated to secure 45 seats, while TVK is projected to win 63 seats. This scenario implies that the chances of Edappadi Palaniswamy returning as chief minister might be diminished due to the emergence of TVK.
